Little Fines and Fees May Hurt Credit Score Unpaid Parking Tickets, Overdue
Library Charges Can Have Hidden Consequences
Most consumers know that missed payments on their
credit cards, mortgages, and car loans will impact their credit scores. Most
aren't aware, though, that many city governments across the country have started
using private collection agencies to enforce parking tickets, animal licensing
fines, even library fines. Because those agencies report to the three major
credit reporting agencies, consumers with otherwise strong credit are finding
their credit scores plummeting significantly in response to single, small-ticket
collection items.

Stamps Go To 39 Cents
Associated Press
It will cost Americans 2 cents more
to mail a letter starting this month. First-class postage rises to 39 cents for
the first ounce. The increase follows legislation requiring the Postal Service
to place $3 billion in escrow this year.
